Car wash installation step by step

The territory intended for the construction of a self-service car wash must conform to two requirements: attractive location and sufficiently large territory for the structure.

  • A place near gathering areas of people, for example, city centre, residential houses, multi-apartment buildings, cities with a population exceeding 5,000 residents.
  • A place near main streets and roads, at intersections and roundabouts, sites like petrol stations, fuel stations, shopping centres, supermarkets, shops, technical inspection points etc.
  • Visually recognisable objects.
  • Easy access, possibility to make right and left turns.
  • A territory suitable for building a carriageway in the car wash for the convenience of customers.

Contactless car wash may be built on owned or rented land. Furthermore, when signing a contract, it is worth remembering that the arrangement of a car wash must comply with the relevant requirements of the governing authorities. Therefore, we recommend entering into an agreement with the land owner on the purchase or rent of the land, which only enters into effect after zoning is received or a master plan of the territory is available, allowing for investments in a structure of such type in the territory concerned.

  • Entry into the rental contract for a longer period is recommended for us to be convinced to act and benefit from the object. Such a contract is usually entered into for a period from 5 to 20 years.

There are two ways to handle further formalities. You can hire an architect, who will handle all the formalities, or you can do this independently, and the architect will only be responsible for the performance of the project. As soon as a decision on signing a contract with an architect is taken, a time schedule must be developed. This will protect you against excessive extension of the process.

Zoning and land development plan. As mentioned before, in order to invest in a self-service car wash in a certain territory, a permit issued by the relevant municipal authority is required. If the territory is included in the local development plan, the decision on planning conditions is taken on the basis of such plan. This is the best situation, and, in such a case, the decision is taken within a relatively short period. If the territory is not included in the local development plan, the situation is more complicated, and you have to apply for construction conditions.

If the construction or development plan provides for such investments, the architect may commence the preparation of documents for the receipt of a construction permit. As a part of the documentation required, you are obliged to develop a water supply, power supply and gas or fuel supply project. Furthermore, you are obliged to develop a land use plan. Depending on the requirements of local government, compliance with the environmental impact statement will possibly be required. Contracts with the relevant suppliers must be signed.

Construction site preparation works for the construction of a contactless car wash last for approximately 1–2 months. The volume of works includes the creation of a concrete platform, as well as building of power supply, gas supply and water supply systems. As soon as the platform is ready, awnings and equipment are installed. The duration of this process depends on the type and number of car washes. It may be from 2 days up to one week.

After the implementation of the investment project the supervisory state institutions must be notified. The construction permit contains information on the institutions to be notified regarding acceptance of the object into service. We can only open the car wash after all the formalities are handled and electricity is connected.
